ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday has met Iranian ambassador Mehdi Honardoost.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both leaders exchanged views over security situation in the region and mutual cooperation. COAS said that Pakistan gives importance to its historic relations with Iran and wants to strengthen these ties.
A discussion over joint threats including terrorism was also held during the meeting.
Earlier, United States National Security Advisor H. R McMaster met COAS at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and discussed PAK-US relations, defence cooperation and regional security matters.
It was the first visit by a top member of President Donald Trump’s administration. UN National Security Advisor visited Afghanistan before landing in Islamabad.
The US embassy said, "General McMaster expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s democratic and economic development, and stressed the need to confront terrorism in all its forms."
