A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court asking to restrain any move on the part of the government to hand over Raymond Davis to the US. Raymond has been charged with double murders who stated that he committed the crime as part of self-defence. Petitioner Barrister Iqbal Jaffery argued that the accused should be prosecuted as per the land laws and Constitution. Jaffery called for an interim order for the government ordering it not to give in to US pressure in this regard. He also urged the LHC to order trial of the accused in the provincial capita (Lahore). On the other hand, police could not be able to get hand on any crime record of the two men killed by the US citizen. However, application has been submitted to the police to file robbery FIR against the two.
