IHC decides to continue hearing Tayyaba torture case

Summary Civil society requested the court to transfer minor maid case to local court in native province.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday has decided to contiue hearing Tayyaba torture case and dismissed civil society’s plea seeking transfer of case at native province’s local court.

According to details, Justice Amir Farooq said that the issue pertaining to torture on a 10-year-old maid by owners additional judge Raja Khurram and his wife Maheen would not be sent to subordinate court as IHC is authorized to hear it as per law.

Civil society requested in the petition that the case should be forwarded to the court of another province as additional session judge was involved in it.

Victim’s lawyer said that IHC’s verdict would be affected by accused Raja Khurram.

Subsequently, the court rejected the appeal and decided to hear the case by itself.

Earlier, the court sought formal written statement from Tayyaba’s father regarding forgiving the accused for beating his daughter and confirmed their interim bails.
