CHINIOT (Dunya News) – A van collided with a tractor trolley at the Lahore Road in Chiniot on Thursday morning, killing at least five people and injuring 15 others, Dunya News reports.
A woman was among the dead. The ill-fated van was carrying wedding guests from Sangla Hill to Mankira when it collided with a tractor trolley in Chiniot.
Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.
Deadly accidents are common on roads across Pakistan due to bad road infrastructure and rampant disregard of traffic laws. Over 9,000 road accidents are reported to the police every year, killing on average around 5,000 people, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
