Eight terrorists killed, 3 security men martyred in Charsadda, Khyber Agency clashes

Security forces have launched search operation in the adjoining areas.

KHYBER AGENCY (Dunya News) – At least three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel embraced martyrdom and eight terrorists were killed in two separate incidents in Charsadda and Khyber Agency today (Friday).

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), militants from across Pakistan-Afghan border reportedly attacked an FC checkpost in Khyber Agency.



The security forces effectively retaliated the attack and killed six terrorists however, two FC officers were also martyred in the incident.



Separately, one soldier lost his life whereas another sustained severe wounds during an attack on FC training centre by suicide bombers in Charsadda’s Shabqadar area.



Two suicide bombers were also killed in an exchange of firing.

Security forces have cordoned off the entire area after the attack and launched a search operation. 

Funeral prayer of martyred officer Naeemullah has been offered at FC headquarters in Peshawar.



According to FC Commandant Liaquat Ali, militants wearing black clothes with white ribbon attacked Shabqar training center at Fajar time.

The latest terror incidents come at a time when Pakistan and Afghanistan are agreed to de-escalate tensions by strengthening mutual ties.

“A high-level Afghanistan-Pakistan meeting that was hosted by the British Government In London with the aim to discuss and agree on a mechanism for genuine bilateral cooperation on fighting terrorism, agree on steps and measures to improve the current hostile bilateral relations and mutual trust has been concluded very positively," revealed the Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan.

Security forces have been on high alert since February s attacks, which also included a suicide blast at a Sufi shrine that killed 90 people.

Pakistan Army announced the launch of a nationwide anti-terrorist operation, and Islamabad has closed the two main gates along its porous border with Afghanistan, Torkham at the Khyber Pass and Chaman in Balochistan province.
