91pc decrease in target killing in Karachi: Rangers DG
There had been a significant decrease in crime following the Karachi operation.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Addressing a seminar at Karachi University on Tuesday, Director General of Pakistan Rangers in Sindh Major General Muhammad Saeed revealed that that the ongoing operation in Karachi against crime and terrorism has resulted in a 91 per cent decrease in target killing and a 72 per cent decrease in incidents of terrorism.
Rangers DG said that 1,513 terrorists have been arrested and 10,716 weapons have been recovered during 9,079 raids so far.
He further clarified that no go areas have been eliminated from across the metropolis.
Extortion cases have been decreased by 93 percent while kidnapping for ransom cases are down by 86%, he added.
Major General Muhammad Saeed highlighted that Pakistan’s economy has strengthened after restoration of peace in the city.
He ensured that security of the educational institutes will be improved.
It may be mentioned here that violent crime has dropped significantly in Karachi, a teeming metropolis of more than 18 million people, since the launch of a paramilitary operation four years ago.
