Shocking revelations about drug addiction in Pakistani students

Summary 9.2 percent male, 4.1 percent female students are drug addicts in 5 cities including Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senate committee for National Health Services held a session in the capital city on Wednesday.

It was revealed in the session that drug addiction had grown at an alarming rate in educational institutes of Islamabad. Not only the Quaid-e-Azam University was mentioned but several schools and colleges were also highlighted in this respect.

Health ministry officials told the committee that surveys were conducted by them according to which five cities including Islamabad had high percentage of drug addict students including boys as well as girls.

A report claims that 9.2 percent male students along with 4.1 percent female students were found to be drug addicts in educational institutes.

Member of committee Khalida Perveen referred to a report by Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) by saying that drug abuse was common in three model schools and three model colleges of Islamabad.

Committee chairman Sajjad Hussain has summoned the Islamabad chief commissioner and anti-narcotics officials in coming sessions in order to plan stopping drug abuse in educational institutes.
