Briefing the media after holding a meeting with PML-Q leader Ch Shujat and Parvez Elahi, Gilani called upon the political stakeholders to prove political maturity to the world for the resolution of prevailing issues and to uphold the supremacy of the Parliament. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said that he sought support from Ch Shujat to boost the democratic institutions in the country. Hailing the PML-Q, Gilani said that it had supported the government on all the national issues and said PML-Q has supported me earlier and would not derail the system.Replying to a question on JUI-F and MQM, the PM said that both the parties have one-point issues with the incumbent government; JUI-F was against the removal of Azam Swari while the MQM sought justification on Zulfiqar Mirzas statements. Meanwhile, talking to media, Shujat said that we want to boost democracy, however, added that his party would extend conditional support to the government: resolve public issues first, he urged. PML-Q never black mailed anyone and now also we wont do any such thing, he asserted. He told the journalists that they have discussed all the important issues such as, RGST, Namoos-e-Risalat, price hike and PoL prices. We asked the PM to redress public grievances, he maintained. Speaking on the occasion, Parvez Elahi said that We are against the governance and not Gilani. Earlier, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also assured Gilani that PML-N would not be a party of any political adventurism to dislodge the government. During a meeting, held at Gilanis Lahore residence, which lasted for 1 hour and 50 minutes, Shahbaz assured the Premier that PML-N will not be a part of any no-confidence vote against the incumbent government. According to sources, the two leaders discussed matters relating to politics in the backdrop of heightened political temperature in the country.Gilani said that opposition is beauty of democracy and added that the government would make efforts to woo back its estranged allies. On the request of Gilani, Shahbaz held out his assurance to the PM that his faction would not be a part of any political adventurism to collapse the government.He, however, stressed upon the PM to take concrete measures to root out corruption from the state institutions.The PM reportedly assured the PML-N leader that steps would be taken soon and all such issues would be resolved with consensus.Before the meeting Shahbaz Sharif met PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and discussed the political situation. Nawaz Sharif has on various occasions stated that the PML-N would not take part in any move that could derail the system.The meeting held particular significance in the wake of Muttahida Qaumi Movement's decision announced on Sunday to sit on opposition benches in the National Assembly and the Senate.
