Summary National Debt Retirement Programme was an effort to liberate Pakistan from foreign loans
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government has finally decided to return the 200 crore that was collected under the National Debt Retirement Programme or Qarz Utaro Mulk Sanwaro Scheme during the 90s.
Secretary Finance revealed that the public donated 200 crore under the scheme which was non-refundable; however the money can now be received from the bank in which it was deposited during that time.
It is pertinent to mention that the National Debt Retirement Programme was an effort to liberate Pakistan from foreign loans.
Secretary Finance also revealed that only Rs 1 lakh was returned during the past 19 years.
