Crackdown against restaurants selling forbidden birds meat, fines worth thousands imposed
GUJRANWALA: (Dunya News) – Wild life department on Saturday took strong action against the restaurants selling forbidden birds’ meat in Gujranwala in the name of sparrows and quails, reported Dunya News.
The department cracked down on the restaurants selling the meat in the name of sparrows and quails upon Dunya News report and imposed fines worth thousands of rupees.
The birds were being hunted down with the help of snakes and were being sold then in the restaurants. The people were fed with forbidden meat in the name of sparrows.
Dunya News’ revelation led Wild Life department to take action in ten restaurants of Kamonki, Wadala, Sindhwaan and Wahindo. The owners were heavily fined.
The supply of sparrows and quails to the restaurants across the district has also been ordered to close down immediately. According to department officials, the birds are endangered. They also said that strong action would be taken against those selling Karahi and Bar BQ of these birds.
