KARACHI (Dunya News) – The initial investigation report of Karachi hotel fire was presented to Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Thursday.

The report was submitted to the CM by home secretary of Sindh.

According to the report, suitable fire-prevention equipment was not present in the hotel whereas the staff was also not trained to extinguish the blaze.

Moreover, the emergency routes of the hotel were also shut.

The report says that hotel staff ran away instead of putting out the fire.

Civil Defence Department members have also been found guilty in the incident.

The department’s crew members last conducted the hotel survey in May 2015 and issued a certificate.

However; the hotel administration didn’t upgrade the fire-prevention equipment during one and a half year.

In view of the findings, the home secretary has held hotel administration and Civil Defence Department responsible for the incident.

At least 12 people were killed when a four-star hotel in Pakistan‘s southern port city of Karachi caught fire early Monday.

Reportedly, 75 people suffered injuries in the blaze, which started in Regent Plaza hotel’s kitchen.
