Fire still raging at Kemari oil terminal

The fire erupted in the Kemari Oil Installations Area where the private oil terminals are located.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Blaze at oil storage tank in the Kemari oil terminal was still raging on Sunday more than 22 hours later.

Mustafa Moussi said fires were burning at five of the terminal’s 13 storage tanks, one of which was close to collapse.

Three snorkels were spraying foam and water in order to control the fire while fifteen fire tenders of KPT, Pakistan Navy and the City District Government were also at work trying to put out the fire.

Reportedly, two people were killed and another was injured in the tragic incident.

A KPT official said the two deceased were the surveyors of a private oil firm. Another of the surveyors was reported missing, he added.

The KPT official was of the view that the cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately.

He further stated that the first focus was to put out the blaze.
