Faisal Raza Abidi sent to jail on judicial remand

Abidi was arrested late on Friday from his residence in Karachi's Rizvia Society.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A local court has sent former Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Faisal Raza Abidi to jail on judicial remand till November 19 in connection with illegal weapon case.

The remand was granted after the investigation officer informed court that a submachine gun (SMG) recovered among other weapons from his house was not licensed.

A case in this regarding was registered at Sachal Police Station.

Abidi was arrested late on Friday from his residence in Karachi’s Rizvia Society. Heavy weapons were also recovered from his house.



Soon after his arrest, police claimed that the ex-senator was arrested in connection with the killing of two men who belonged to the Tableeghi Jamaat in Patel Para area of the metropolis a day earlier. But in the evening, a top-ranking police officer said that Abidi was ‘detained’ and being investigated in some previous cases of sectarian killings.

Faisal Raza Abidi was a PPP representative as well as a former senator, who resigned from the senate in 2014.
