PM House vets Dunya's scoop, Cyril's travel ban will soon be lifted

Summary Investigations concerning imposition of the ban would consume at least two to three days: sources

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Spokesperson for the Prime Minister (PM) House has vetted a scoop reported in ‘Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath’, by stating on Wednesday that travel restriction imposed on Cyril Almeida, a journalist with an English newspaper would soon be lifted.

The PM House has reported that the issue involving inclusion of the journalist’s name in Exit Control List (ECL) was being probed however, it would soon be removed.

Sources privy to the Foreign Ministry have reported that the investigations concerning imposition of the ban would consume at least two to three days and meanwhile, no one involved in the issue can leave the country.

It was also reported that the journalist had booked a ticket to depart for Dubai which prompted the ban.

The development has come in after a news story published last Thursday by the paper created a controversy as it claimed of a confrontation between civil and military leadership in the last meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) presided over by the Prime Minister and attended by Chief of the Army Staff.

The government has denied the story at least three times before imposing a travel restriction on the journalist which became the subject of various news stories worldwide.
