ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Monday annulled as many as 74 appointments carried out from 2011 to 2014 in Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Justice Amir Hani Muslim read out the verdict that was reserved in May and announced that the court has declared all 74 recruitment as null and void due to irregularities.

The senior lawyer Chaudhry Akram filed plea in December 2013 and maintained the stance that the rules and regulations were violated to fill the vacancies in IHC.

According to petition, two people appointed in the superior court were close relatives of sitting judges. The petitioner listed IHC registrar, deputy registrar and 73 other officials as respondents.

On the other hand, Auditor General of Pakistan in his report had declared the recruitments against the merit.

Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) and Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) had also passed resolutions urging court to decide the future appointments.
