Summary Ali was arrested at Benazir International Airport in March last year

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court has apparently directed Sindh High Court to give a verdict on October 3 in petition over ECL name omission of Ayyan Ali, a fashion model indicted in a currency smuggling case.

Chief Justice of Pakistan headed a bench of three to hear the petition that sought omission of Ali’s name from the Exit Control List.

During the hearing, her counsel, Lateef Khosa rhetorically asked if there was an effective judicial system in the country or not as his client’s name was added and removed from the ECL multiple times at expense of her business commitments and outstanding dealings abroad.

Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali hoped that Sindh High Court would give a verdict in the case after hearing arguments on October 3.

Ali was arrested at Benazir International Airport in March last year for attempting to smuggle $503,800 in a bag that she carried to board a flight of a private airline to United Arab Emirates.
