Polling for by-election in Gilgit-Baltistan constituency LA-6 Hunza underway

HUNZA (Dunya News) – Polling for by-election in Gilgit-Baltistan constituency LA-6 Hunza is underway today (Saturday).

As many as 64 polling stations have been formed among which 22 stations are combine in which both males and females can cast vote.

Sources told that 36,392 people would exercise their vote in the electoral process while a strong contest has been reported between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shah Saleem and Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Wazir Khan Baig.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Aziz Ahmed, independent candidate Obaidullah Beg and Naik Naam Kareem are also participating in the election.

The security has also been tightened up as local administration has deployed Gilgit-Baltistan Scout and police officers.

The seat fell vacant after Ghazanfar Ali Khan became governor.
