NEW YORK (Web Desk) - Government of Pakistan has issued a new passport to former Pakistan ambassador to the US, Hussain Haqqani.

Haqqani had submitted an application in the Pakistani embassy in Washington for a new passport.

He was given a time period till last Saturday for the issuance of the passport however; he did not receive it in the said time frame due to which rumours spread that his passport delivery has been stopped.

However; he was issued the passport on Thursday evening which will be applicable till next five years.

While talking to a reporter, Hussain Haqqani said that due to the delay he feared that his citizenship is going to be cancelled, nevertheless; he thanked Almighty that he was not forced to attain the passport of any other country.

He explained that disagreement with the government missionary is not synonymous to enmity with the country.

He affirmed that he will continue to work and give statements in the benefit of the country in the future also.

He also said that he will visit various countries for his book launch and have done so in the past on Pakistani passport which has refuted the claims that he has attained American passport.
