Summary ECNEC approved the 59km express highway from Burhan to Havelian at the cost of Rs 34.16 billion
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has on Monday approved the Havelian Express Way project. The 59km highway from Burhan to Havelian will cost Rs 34.16 billion, reported Dunya News.
ECNEC meeting was presided over by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. The meeting also approved the Lowari Tunnel project and the adjacent roads to be completed by 2017. In this project, 8km long Lowari Tunnel and the 40km adjacent road will be constructed while the 130km long road from Chak Darra to Chitral will also be expanded and repaired. The project will also help the people living in Chak Darra, Temargarah, Chitral and various other areas.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Finance Minister thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his special interest in the project and the orders for its quick completion. The ECNEC meeting also approved the 89km motorway from Lahore to Sialkot. The project will cost over Rs 43 billion. The people of Lahore, sheikhupura, Gujranwala and Sialkot will benefit from this project.
The meeting also approved ship lift transfer system at Karachi port that will cost Rs 9.56 billion. It also approved the water supply improvement in Balochistan at the cost of Rs 22.16 billion. The project will help the people of Balochistan to access clean drinking water and livestock department will also benefit from it.
