The interior ministry of the Sindh province has forwarded recommendations to the Chief Minister Sindh for increasing the penalties for possessing illegal weapons, Dunya News reported on Monday. According to the recommendations, the penalties would increase and that possession of illegal weapons would be a non-bailable crime. Also that the condition of two witnesses would be abolished. The report sent to the chief minister also suggests that as decided in a meeting presided over by the federal interior minister Rehman Malik that necessary amendments should be made in the Arms rules 1924 and Pakistan Arms' Ordinance 1965 and also the penalty for keeping illegal weapons should be increased to a 10-year imprisonment. Th report also say that after the 18th amendment, matters relating with arms' are being transferred to the provinces. Therefore the chief minister should approve the recommendations so that these could be passed from the Sindh assembly.
