The role of Islamic Ideology Council has been restricted to giving proposals only, Dunya News reported on Sunday. However, none of its proposal has been approved except Hadood Ordinance. Maulana Maulvi Muhammad Khan Sherani has been appointed as the new chairman of the Council on this Eid-ul-Azha. Maulana Sherani has also filed a petition in the Shariah Court against non-consideration of the Councils proposals. The clerics opined that the appointment of the Councils chairman is political and has no standing whatsoever.
