Balochistan Bar Association has announced three-day mourning after the attack

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Lawyers in different cities have gone on strike after over 70 people were killed in a suicide blast in Quetta’s Civil Hospital, reported Monday.

A large number of lawyers were gathered at the Civil Hospital following murder of Balochistan Bar Association President Bilal Anwar Kasi earlier today in Quetta as his body was shifted there.

After learning about the news of casualties, lawyers across Sindh and other cities boycotted proceedings of the courts.

Reaction to the terror attack came first from the Karachi bar which led the announcements of strike from other areas. Karachi bar president, Mehmoodul Hassan condemned the attack.

Sindh Bar Council, initially, called a strike on Tuesday but later a decision was made to boycott the proceedings at once.

Council’s Vice-Chairman, Barrister Salahuddin condemned the attack and called for strict security measures at different installations.

Balochistan Bar Association has announced three-day mourning after the attack.

Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sanaullah Zehri has summoned a high-level meeting to review security situation of the province and take required steps to ensure further protection to the people.

Notable personalities from political sector have reiterated their resolve to not sit satisfied until elimination of terrorists and militancy in the country.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman, Imran Khan and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party and the premier are among the many that have condemned the attack.
