Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Pakistans role in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan is indisputable. Addressing a conference titled Pakistan-Afghanistan: Towards Mutual Security, Stability and Trade, organised by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), Qureshi asserted that the Pak-Afghan transit trade reflected Pakistans interest in Afghanistans progress. He also endorsed reconciliatory process for peace in the neighbouring country. Earlier, addressing the seminar, Muhammad Masoom Stankzai, advisor to President Hamid Karzai national security adviser, said that to overcome terrorism, poverty and illiteracy should also be defeated. He said that Af-Pak cooperation is vital for regional peace. Later, talking to medimen, Qureshi said that Pakistan is making efforts to retain regional peace, adding that, We are not afraid of Indo-US ties, for Pakistan has its own importance for regional peace.
