Summary

Police manhandled journalists outside the Chief Minister Secretariat in Lahore on Wednesday due to which two newsmen were injured. The CM has constituted a 4-member committee to investigate the matter. The policemen clashed with the journalists over the issue of parking outside the CM secretariat when the journalists and cameramen arrived there to cover a ceremony attended by CM Punjab. The brawl led to scuffle between mediamen and law enforcers, injuring Dunya News correspondent along with journalists of three other TV channels. The men belonging to sensitive agencies took the journalists into the law enforcement agency bureau near the CM house and thrashed the journalists once again before setting them free. Journalists gathered outside the CM house and staged protest demonstration. They raised slogans against police and demanded arrest of the culprits. Shahbaz Sharif assured journalists that action would be taken against the policemen involved in this incident. Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and other media bodies have denounced the incident.
