A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking nationalization of all sugar mills to check the hike in sugar prices, Dunya News reported on Wednesday. The plea filed by Azhar Siddique Advocate argued that the commodity is being sold at Rs 140 per kg while both the federal and provincial governments are busy in shifting the buck at each other. The petitioner also pleaded the government to summon the PM and the CM in this regard. The petition also demanded setting up of a monitoring authority to keep the prices of daily usage commodities under check.The petition also solicited filing cases against those involved in throwing up the sugar prices with ten-year imprisonment and fine worth crore of rupees as their punishments.
