Summary

PML-N patron Mian Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday categorically stated that his party would not compromise on key principles. Addressing a gathering at Khairpur Nathan, Nawaz said, We are carrying out ideological struggle and ready to render any sacrifice for the sake of prosperity and sovereignty of the country. He observed that had a dictator not toppled his democratic government in 1999 the country would have more developed and prosperous today. Nawaz expressed his dissatisfaction with government aimed at rehabilitating flood-affected people, remarking that Prime Minister Gilani had assured me to constitute a free commission, but he did not keep his words. The former prime minister said international community and donors had their reservations over whether the PPP-led government would fairly utilize funds for flood-hit masses. Nawaz regretted that despite loud claims the ruling quarters were not implementing the policy of reconsolidation and Charter of Democracy signed by him and slain PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto in London. Nawaz lashed out at the incumbent government for allegedly ignoring the spiraling inflation. He deplored the guard of honour given to former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf.
