Absolving Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) of the sugar crisis facing the country, Federal Trade Minister Makhdoom Amin Faheem has said that none of the province including Punjab has taken its earmarked quota of the commodity. Talking to Dunya News on Tuesday at Lahore, Amin Faheem said that of its 50,000 metric tons quota, Punjab has taken only 31,648 metric tons sugar while of its 17,000 share, Sindh took 6, 415 metric tons. He added that only Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken 20,000 metric tons of its share. Faheem said that TCP acts merely as a post office, adding that the latter still has 300,000 metric tons sugar. He said that a meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI) decided to release more sugar to the provinces.Meanwhile, CM Punjab sent provincial minister Ch Ghafoor and Secretary Food to Karachi to supervise the procurement of the commodity.
