Adjournment motion against WAPDA Chairman submitted in NA
Statement issued by WAPDA Chairman about Kalabagh Dam will open new Pandora's Box: motion
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Saturday submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly (NA) against Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Zafar Mahmood, reported Dunya News.
The motion was submitted after WAPDA Chairman issued remarks of the Kalabagh Dam issue that sparked a controversy. The adjournment motion was submitted by PPP’s Nafisa Shah, Shazia Marri, Naveed Qamar, Aijaz Jakhrani and other members of the party.
It was mentioned in the motion that since three provincial assemblies passed resolutions against the construction of the Kalabagh Dam, the statement issued by WAPDA Chairman shall open a new Pandora’s Box.
Furthermore, it was also stated in the adjournment motion that WAPDA Chairman’s statements against the very issue were not part of his mandate. It was mentioned that the statement was against the spirit of federalism.
The motion included that issue was a matter of national concern and therefore needed to be discussed in the assembly at the earliest.
