KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani on Monday has accepted resignations of another two Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) former Sindh Assembly members.

Ashfaq Mangi has joined ex-mayor of Karachi, Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) while Ponjo Bheel has left MQM for Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

MQM’s number of seats in the Sindh Assembly was 51 however, four members, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Iftikhar Alam, Ashfaq Mangi and Ponjo Bheel resigned whereas two others, Bilqees Mukhtar and Dilawar Khan have announced to resign as well.

Both Bilqees Mukhtar and Dilawar Khan joined the young Pak Sar Zameen Party.

At least nine seats are vacant in the provincial assembly for different reasons. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Irfanullah Marwat and PPP’s Sattar Rajpar were declared ineligible while PPP’s Sardar Muqeem Khoso passed away in April.

Sindh Assembly Secretary has said that resignations of Bilqees Mukhtar and Dilawar Khan have not been received, adding that a letter was dispatched to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold elections on the vacant seats.

Former mayor of Karachi, Mustafa Kamal had returned to Pakistan earlier this year after over three years. The disenchanted member of MQM lashed out at his former leader, Altaf Hussain in a press conference in the provincial capital and announced to establish a political party.

Pak Sarzameen Party has attracted many influential people in Sindh from different political parties since its establishment.
