Some criminals have taken refuges in Balochistan and Dubai after target operation was launched

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Commander of one of Lyari’s gangs, Uzair Baloch’s close aide Nouman Siddique has revealed political patronage behind gang wars after he was arrested, Dunya News reported Saturday.

The culprit, during interrogation stated that youths were recruited in the criminal gangs. Since the start of a targeted operation in Karachi in 2013, some criminals have taken refuges in Balochistan and Dubai, he added.

Nouman Siddique was arrested in Garden area.

Youths were used for collection of extortion money and target killings in the city. Sources privy to law enforcement agency stated that the copped culprit used to assist Baloch in different affairs.

Uzair Baloch was arrested while entering Karachi early in the morning in January.

Uzair Baloch, the chief of the banned Peoples Aman Committee (PAC), fled to Dubai in 2013 after the launch of Rangers operation in the metropolis.

The suspect has been blamed for running a network involved in criminal activities including killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and drugs business.

Federal authorities had issued red warrants of Baloch and another key culprit, Baba Ladla on June 11 and 12, 2014.

Different sections have alleged Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) several times in the past of harboring target killers and criminals. During a search and siege operation at MQM s Nine Zero headquarters in March 2015, Rangers had copped more than two workers who were involved in crimes.

In the latest developments against MQM workers  criminal activities, a fugitive named Zubair alias Charya was arrested on Friday. Zubair is being seen as a suspect in Baldia Town factory fire case.

Zubair has been accused of setting fire to a factory in Baldia Town on September 11, 2012 for not meeting extortion money demands. The inferno had claimed not less than 259 innocent lives.

Zubair and his accomplice, Shehzad Pervaiz were presented before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) where Rangers were given 90-day custody of the culprits.

Separately, police have apprehended four terrorists in an operation in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

Security personnel have seized advanced weapons from their possession including Kalashnikov, repeater, grenades and detonators.
