Landsliding in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan cripples life

Pakistan Army rescue and relief activities in the affected areas are in progress.

AZAD KASHMIR / GILGIT-BALTISTAN (Dunya News) – People in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan’s affected areas are undergoing severe problems due to landsliding.

Met department has forecasted additional landsliding in Malakand, Hazara division, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Heavy downpour continues that has triggered landsliding as a result of which people are facing enormous problems.

People living in Muzaffarabad, Rawalkot, Sidhnoti, Neelam and Hatian are of the view that government departments do not have the abiliity to cope with natural disasters.

Due to rise in water level in the river of Azad Kashmir, the local administration has directed the people living alongside the rivers and streams to remain cautious.

Meanwhile, people frightened of landsliding in Shangla area are shifting to secure places.

On the oher hand, food and water shortage is being witnessed in Chakesar and Basham whereas power supply to some areas of Gilgit-Baltistan has also not been restored after seven days.
