KARACHI (Dunya News) – Oil paint factory in SITE area has caught fire knocking four workers unconscious, Dunya News reported Monday.
Rescue operation is underway as more than six fire brigade vehicles are operational at the site.
Reportedly, fire erupted from the basement of the factory. Four workers were shifted to a nearby hospital as clouds of smoke enveloped the working area.

Sources said that the factory is equipped with counter-fire instruments and rescuers would control the situation within some time.
SITE is Karachi’s industrial area and home to dozens of factories. Several fire-related incidents have surfaced in the past. One of the many tragic stories involve Baldia factory fire, area that borders SITE.

Locals rescue a worker out of the cloudy factory
More than 250 workers had lost lives in the inferno while at least 600 injured in September 11, 2012. Then prime minister (PM) Raja Pervez Ashraf, who was on a foreign tour called on Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad while former president Asif Ali Zardari offered condolences to the grieving families.
Baldia factory incident is a controversial issue as Rangers, who are operative in Sindh with special policing powers in Karachi, had alleged Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) of having a role in the tragedy.
The factory was allegedly set on fire for not complying with extortion money demands.
