ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered Punjab Government to refrain from shutting those clinics in the country that are being run by quacks reported Dunya News.
SC has instructed the provincial government to remain within the limits of the law while taking action against the quacks.
During the hearing of the case, Punjab Health Care Commission’s lawyer stated that dental technicians are not allowed to write ‘Doctor’ next to their names nor can they open any clinics.
The lawyer representing the Dental Association stated that those who are committing certain unlawful acts in this regards need to be fined and that the government should not have the authority to close the clinics.
Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed remarked that the quacks operating at footpaths are a main reason for the spread of fatal diseases such as Hepatitis, Cancer and AIDS. He further added that the court can neither grant a license to take away someone’s life not can it turn it’s face away from such ongoing practices.
The court barred Punjab government from shutting the clinics operated by quacks and adjourned the case till March 30.
