ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – At least 42 Pakistanis deported from Britain have arrived at Benazir International Airport in Islamabad today (Wednesday), Dunya News reported.

An Interior Ministry spokesperson said that all the deportees were verified, however, three of them have been handed over to anti-human trafficking cell of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for authentication of their documents.

The spokesperson said that these three persons might have used land route to go abroad.

In 2014, about 21,000 Pakistanis who were in Europe without permission were ordered to return home. An estimated 50,000 Pakistanis travel legally to Europe for work each year.

Pakistan, the sixth most populous country in the world, is one of the top five countries of origin for illegal migration to Europe, according to figures from the European statistical institute Eurostat.

Around 630,000 people have illegally entered the European Union last year, more than half of them landing in Greece.
