Nepra approves Rs4.11 per unit cut in power tariff for January

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – After the reduction in petrol and compressed natural gas (CNG) prices, the government has also decreased the electricity tariff by Rs4.11 per unit for the month of January.
However; K-Electric and those using 200 units will be deprived of this relief.
The decision to reduce tariff was taken at the request of the Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA).
The price-cut is for the month of January whereas the benefit will be collected in March bills.
Moreover, Nepra has also summoned reply from CPPA over producing electricity from expensive fuel.

On the other hand, the power plant fuel charges have also been cut down by Rs2,234 per ton.
According to details, the rates of the fuel used in furnace oil-based plants had come upto Rs22,000 per ton whereas the local prices have worked out at less than Rs25,500 after minimizing it from Rs497 per ton.
In the past one year, furnace oil’s per ton price have reduced to Rs29,000.
Analysts have stated that the power tariff will be reduced more after price-cut in fuel which will ease the burden of monthly bill on the user.
