FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – Two more victims of fatal Sheikhupura road mishap on Saturday succumbed to injuries at Faisalabad’s Allied Hospital, taking death toll to 20.

The terrific road mishap that occurred on February 10 in the morning has claimed two more lives. The deceased have been identified as sub-inspector Sikandar Hayat and Kosar Perveen.

Earlier, a tanker carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) had a collision with car and the gas leakage fueled an inferno engulfing the vehicle and nearby buildings near Sheikhupura’s Mananwala.

Two other school rickshaws at the scene of accident also caught fire, injuring some schoolchildren. 

Sub-inspector Zahid Khan had also registered a case against gas tanker’s driver and owner at Mananwala police station.

Deadly accidents are common on roads across Pakistan due to bad road infrastructure and rampant disregard of traffic laws. 

Over 9,000 road accidents are reported to the police every year, killing on average around 5,000 people, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
