Karachi: 4 police officers including SHO dismissed for extortion
Officials stated that the SHO has been demoted and departmental action will be taken against him.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – In another case of police extortion from citizens, high officials of police dismissed 4 officers including a Station House Officer (SHO).
According to police officials, SHO Naeem of New Karachi police station along with his Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and 2 other officers had illegally taken a citizen into custody and demanded money from his family for his release.
Officials further stated that the SHO has also been demoted and departmental action will be taken against him. Police officials have said action shall also be taken if any other officers were found to be involved.
In a similar incident earlier, Police arrested a former SHO Sub-Inspector Zafar Abbas and his private body guard Mansoor Shah for involvement in cases of extortion. The two suspects used to illegally place citizens under custody and demand extortion.
Police registered a case of extortion and on sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act against the former SHO and his 3 other accomplices.
The apprehended SHO revealed that he extorted Rs. 6.850 million from a transporter named Abdul Rahim from which he received a share of Rs. 1 million.
Police assured that the remaining members of the game will also be arrested soon.
