Summary PML-Q leader said his government also had pressure after 911 to do the same but didn't succumb
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has on Tuesday said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif had imposed the ban on Tablighi Jamaat in the education institutions due over pressure from Indian PM Narendra Modi, reported Dunya News.
Talking to media at his residence, Pervez Elahi said that the government has banned the Tablighi Jamaat on Modi’s pressure. He said that his party also had similar pressure after 911 to do the same but didn’t succumb.
The former Chief Minister of Punjab said that Tablighi Jamaat spreads the message of peace and tolerance. He added that Pakistan’s government has done something that even the Western countries and Russia haven’t.
“We were also under pressure to ban Tablighi Jamaat after 911 but we refused to do so”, he said. He added that the rulers of Pakistan always brought the wrong solutions to all the problems facing Pakistan. “The people are extremely concerned over the steps taken by the rulers”, said Pervez.
