ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Local court on Wednesday has given Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) director enforcement in Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) custody for three-days on physical remand.
The criminal was presented before senior civil judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar in the federal capital.
The agency maintained in the court that the accused played a role in establishing Afghan slums in H-9 Sector. The alleged culprit sold pieces of land that are owned by the government.
The FIA requested the court to grant a ten-day remand for investigations and arrest of his accomplices. However, the court granted three-day remand and ordered to present the culprit in next hearing.
A grand operation was launched against Afghan slums in the federal capital on July 30 2015. The slums are homes to hundreds of illegal Afghan immigrants. The Afghanistan nationals have been living in Pakistan for decades.
Earlier, the apex court had barred CDA from bulldozing slums and sought replies from the government and other departments concerned. Details of housing policies of the government were also sought.
The court had stated that Afghan migrants have been there for as long as four decades and no government or national institution provided substitute places.
The operation caused an uproar as refugee children and families had no place else to go. The operation was halted on orders of the Supreme Court.
In November, a court had remanded six CDA directors among 11 officials in Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) custody for three days.
