GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) – Local administration on Tuesday sealed 10 educational institutes including government colleges in Gujranwala for their inadequate security measures despite a prior notice from the Provincial government to all educational institutes of Punjab to improve security. The colleges will only be opened again once the security of these institutes is up to the mark.
According to the details, the institutes of Government Post-Graduate College, Degree College, Saint Paul, Ideal College, Government Islamia College and Government Commerce College along with 10 others were sealed in the areas of Satellite Town, Qilla Deedar Singh, Model Town and Kotwali.
The district administration had previously advised the colleges several times to extend raise their boundary walls, deploy barbed wire on the walls and install walk-through gates but the administrations of the institutions had failed to comply.
Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhary Nisar earlier chaired a high level meeting to discuss the security situation of all educational institutions.
The government of Punjab had ordered all educational establishments to assure fool-proof security after the deadly Bacha Khan University terrorist attack that left 21 martyred. The institutions have been advised that they will not be allowed to work in case of ineffective security measures.
