Summary COAS, chiefs of all 3 armed forces of Pakistan participated in funeral prayer of senior politician
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Former Foreign Minister Sahibzada Yaqub Khan’s funeral prayer was offered in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. He passed away in Islamabad last night at the age of 95, reported Dunya News.
According to the details, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and chiefs of all three armed forces of Pakistan participated in the funeral prayer of the senior politician. The prayer was offered in the Race Course ground Rawalpindi.
After retiring from the Army as lieutenant general, Sahibzada Yaqub Khan embarked on a career as a diplomat. He remained Pakistan s ambassador to France, the United States and the Soviet Union from 1972 to 1982. He served as foreign minister from 1982 to 1991. He also served as caretaker foreign minister from 1996 to 1997.
He served during the reigns of General Yahya Khan, General Zia-ul-Haq, Former caretaker Prime Minister (PM) Moeen Qureshi and Former PM Benazir Bhutto. He had shifted to America after his retirement in 1997.
