HEC robs nation of millions in degree verification
HEC robbed the nation of millions of rupees in illegal fee, Dunya News obtained the document
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Nation has been robbed of millions of rupees through illegal fee by Higher Education Commission (HEC) for degree verification as per the document obtained on Saturday by Dunya News.
According to the document, HEC earned Rs. 240 million under the head of degree verification during the last 2 years. Documents say that the amount was kept in HEC’s account instead of submitting it to the national exchequer.
The document says that HEC has been receiving 800 rupees for verification of each degree and Rs. 500 for the verification of the photocopy of the degree.
Auditor General of Pakistan has alleged that the HEC has been receiving this fee without the approval from finance division. According to the law, it is mandatory to get fee structure approved from finance division.
