She said that while addressing at a press conference here on Wednesday, and adding that I never seen that type of flood in my life, its huge disaster. Angelina said millions of people have displaced in this recent flood and has appealed to the international community to support and rehabilitate the flood victims. Millions of Afghan refugees are living in Pakistan and government of Pakistan and UNHCR are supporting them,it is a unique example of generosity, she said. Julie said that during her visit she meet those women who had lost their husbands and seen those children who have no shelter of their parents. Its clear this crisis is far from over, she said. People have lost everything, their homes, their belongings, their crops and cattle, and their livelihoods. Long after the cameras have gone, people will be struggling to rebuild their lives. She said that flood victims have lost their every thing in the flood including food and not food items, clothes and other daily use items washed out in the flood. We must not forget flooding is not the only trauma plaguing this country, she said. They are still rebuilding infrastructure from the earthquake of 2005. They continue to have large numbers of IDPs as a result of the conflict in the north, and host 1.7 million Afghan refugees who still need care and refuge as conflict continues in their homeland. It is now the Pakistani people themselves who are in need of large scale assistance, Angelina Jolie urges long-term assistance for Pakistan as she visits flood affected areas and relief camps. To a question she strongly opposed the planning of burning the Holy Quran by extremist elements on the commemoration of destruction day of World Trade Center on September 11. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani called on the high profile persons like UNHCRs Goodwill Ambassador, Ms. Angelina Jolie to help the flood affectees in Pakistan by sensitizing the international community and creating better awareness about the plight of millions of flood victims as well as to mobilize support for the immediately required assistance for relief and rehabilitation. The Prime Minister was talking to Ms. Angelina Jolie, Goodwill Ambassador on UNHCR who called on him here at the PM House on Wednesday. The Prime Minister thanked Ms. Angelina Jolie for her expression of solidarity and support with the people of Pakistan and termed her visit as timely for drawing the worlds attention to the distress and despair of Pakistani flood victims. He also appreciated the fact that she had made personal financial contribution for the relief efforts immediately after the onset of unprecedented floods.
