Girl suffers serious burns in acid attack by two women in Quetta

QUETTA (Web Desk) - A girl suffered serious burn wounds on Wednesday when two women threw acid on her in Quetta’s Kili Shabu area, Dunya News reported.

According to police, two women entered the house in the guise of polio workers and doused 20-year-old Amna with acid. Reason being the attack could not be ascertained yet. 

The attackers escaped from the scene soon after the incident.

The victim was shifted to Bolan Medical Complex where doctors reported that she has suffered 85% burn injuries to her face, however, her condition is stable.

Taking swift action, police have arrested one suspect identified as Jan Bibi while raids are being conducted for arrest of other woman.

The horrific crime, which disfigures and often blinds its overwhelmingly female victims, has long been used to settle personal or family scores with hundreds of cases reported every year.

The first recorded acid attack in Balochistan came in 2010, with two more reported in 2012.
