LAHORE (Dunya News) – Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said on Saturday that the implementation of new taxes is necessary for the betterment of Pakistan economy. He was chairing a high level meeting in Islamabad to review the revenue collection target for the 2nd quarter of the current fiscal year, reported Dunya News.

Talking to media afterwards, Ishaq Dar said that they will be able to generate ten thousand megawatt electricity before 2018 and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will reach up to 15% till then. He said that there is no case pending in National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against him. He commented further that the cases against him are nothing but trash. Slamming those who gave statements against him, he said that he is sending legal notices of defamation to them. He said that the current government believes on the politics of values instead of power.

Dar directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to make all-out efforts to meet the revenue collection targets set for the current fiscal year. During the meeting to review the revenue collection target for the 2nd quarter of the current fiscal year, he Finance Minister expressed satisfaction over the revenue collection and directed to maintain its momentum.

Government has saved Pakistan from bankruptcy and has doubled treasury in only 2 years, said Federal Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar.

Talking to a press conference, Ishaq Dar when government took over Pakistan, it was on the verge of bankruptcy yet it took the task as a challenge and improved financial condition of the country. He said that finances of the treasury have been increased from Rs 2 billion to 4 billion.

Highlighting the government’s achievements, Ishaq Dar said that funds of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) have reached Rs 102 billion. He said that a ban on import of cars above 3000cc had been put in place. The ban, said Dar, has saved federal reserves in addition to putting an end on VIP culture.
