Rangers file Rs500 mn defamation suit against MQM's Waseem Akhtar in SHC

Summary Waseem Akhtar had alleged the Rangers of stealing hides of sacrificial animals

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Rangers lawyer on Thursday registered a defamation suit of Rs500 mn against Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Waseem Akhtar in Sindh High Court (SHC).

Rangers officials approached SHC and lodged a case against Waseem Akhtar for leveling false and baseless allegations against the paramilitary force.

Waseem Akhtar, during an interview on September 29, had alleged the Rangers of stealing hides of sacrificial animals and involvement in extra-constitutional activities.

They said that the accusations against them have created an irreversible loss and were an attempt to stain the image of state institution.

Subsequently, the court has summoned Waseem Akhtar by sending a legal notice to him.
