KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Haider Abbas Rizvi has on Tuesday said that the new Karachi mayor will not allow corruption. MQM celebrated Day of Thanksgiving today. Rizvi said that MQM will struggle on constitutional and legal fronts to empower the mayors of Karachi and other cities of Sindh, reported Dunya News.

Special prayers of Thanksgiving were offered in Lal Qila Ground, Karachi, over MQM’s success in local body elections. The event was attended by MQM Rabita Committee members and all the local body representatives belonging to MQM in Karachi. Senator Tanvirul Haq Thanvi led the prayers on this occasion.

Holding a press conference on this occasion, Haider Abbas Rizvi said that instead of empowering the mayors, the 2013 local body act took the powers away from them. He said that MQM has already rejected the act and will now struggle on constitutional and legal fronts to empower the mayors.

Rizvi thanked the people of Karachi for voting MQM in the local body elections in Karachi.

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif on Monday slammed TV host Mani on local body election results in Karachi. Latif said that the victory of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has silenced its critics, reported Dunya News.

In a video message directed at Mani, who is inclined towards Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Rashid Latif said that MQM has silenced its critics. “Mani son! You’re being too political these days. Cut your coat according to the cloth. You’ve been uprooted”, said the former wicket-keeper of Pakistan team.

Mani has always been pro-PTI while Rashid Latif is a supporter of MQM. While Mani had displayed his leanings towards PTI in his TV shows and Rashid Latif answered him through this video.
