Elections going to be held in 158 union councils and 92 wards of municipal committees in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: (Dunya News) – Elections in 5 union councils of Murree Municipal Corporation have on Friday been postponed. The elections were going to be held in these constituencies on December 5 but have now been postponed. The polls will be held on 158 union councils and 92 wards of municipal committees in Rawalpindi tomorrow (Saturday), reported Dunya News.

According to the details released by District Election Commissioner of Rawalpindi Nadeem Zubair, elections have been postponed in 16 union councils of Rawalpindi and 5 union councils of Murree. Elections will be held in only 3 of the Murree constituencies. In Kotli Sattian, elections have been postponed in 4 of the union councils.

In Rawalpindi, 5 companies of army and 2 companies of Rangers will be deployed while the civil defence officials and scouts will be responsible for the security.

Polling will begin at 7:30 in the morning and will continue till 5:30 in the evening. 12 officials will be deployed on the highly sensitive polling stations while 6 will be deployed on the sensitive ones.

190 candidates will contest 46 municipal corporation seats in Rawalpindi. On 3 Murree Municipal Corporation seats, 11 candidates are taking part in the elections.

In Rawalpindi, 382 candidates are going to contest for the chairman seats while 274 candidates will be contesting for the general seats in 5 municipal committees of the district.
