SUKKUR (Dunya News) – Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah on Tuesday has said that the ruling party should aplogize to the nation for not fulfilling its promise of ending power outages within three months.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader talked to the media after laying foundation stone of solar-powered motor pump in Patni near Sukkur.
Shah said that oil prices dip in international market but the benefit is not transferred to the grassroots. He said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had vowed to end power outages within three months and now the government has pushed their promise to 2018.
The opposition leader said that the government failed to keep a balance between salaries and inflation. Any product which is unaffected by inflation is of no use for the public, he added.
He said that the Prime Minister gives a “lollypop” to the people every time petroleum products’ prices plunge in international market.
Shah demanded the government to apologize to the nation for not coming true to its promises. He said that the much hyped Nandipur power project did not function a single day.
Earlier on November 22, Shah had criticised the government for giving a package for farmers in Punjab and not Sindh.
He said that Rs 2,000 per acre is not sufficient for the victimized community. He called for at least Rs 20,000 per acre for the farmers. Shah said that rulers have always lived in the cities and thus they favour communities of the cities and not the heartlands.
The opposition party’s member said that the government did not bring any significant changes to better lives of the people. It was only PPP that brought about real changes, he added.
In the last month, Shah had denounced government’s alleged favour of Punjab in different China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. He alleged the government of neglecting other provinces in the record foreign investment in Pakistan by China.
Shah wrote a letter to the Nawaz in which he stated that the government is giving priority to the eastern route while western route, which is shorter in being neglected. He stated that Sindh contributes not less than 60 percent to the total revenue and given the statistics, Sindh deserves more through CPEC.
