KARACHI (Dunya News) – Unknown attackers riding a motorcycle late night Friday opened fire on a Dawn News DSNG van in Essa Nagri area of Karachi injuring the news agency’s engineer. A contingent of Rangers and police arrived at the crime scene after they were notified. The injured engineer was shifted to the hospital immediately where his condition is said to be out of danger.
According to the police, one of the suspects was wearing a red coloured jacket. Five bullet holes were found on the van while six bullet shells have been found from the attack site. The incident is being investigated.
The attack on the van has been severely condemned by numerous political leaders including the Provincial Interior Minister while many of the political entities visited the injured at the hospital.
The shooting incident follows a grenade attack earlier this month on a Dunya News office in Faisalabad which injured three of its employees. The explosion shattered windows, while cars and motorcycles parked outside were significantly damaged by the explosion. Threatening pamphlets were also dropped at the crime scene by the unidentified suspects.
